Sandry Law 最初在一次臨滄採購之旅的餐巾紙上畫下了這套裝備的草圖。他厭倦了用抹布包裹的瓷蓋碗 — 能用，卻永遠不夠專業。構想很簡單：一套小巧、不易碎、體面的裝備，能與品鑑筆記本和折射儀一起放進側背包。
他與昆明近郊一家平時製作實驗器皿的小型玻璃工坊合作，指定了一款耐熱高硼矽玻璃蓋碗，帶有翻口邊緣和幾乎不帶紋理的蓋鈕 — 即使在埋頭乾茶審評時也能輕鬆握持。公道杯前後打了三個樣，才把出水嘴調整到位：它必須平穩傾注，不產生湍流，讓茶湯保持清澈，香氣不散。品茗杯則採用雙層結構，因為沒有侍茶師願意捧著燙手的杯子啜飲。
帆布收納盒來自大理一家為戶外領隊製作背包的供應商 — 結實的棉鴨布、黃銅拉鍊、CNC 裁切的泡棉內襯。每一套裝備都在昆明手工組裝，出貨前由 Sandry 親自查驗。它不是市面上最便宜的旅行套件，卻是他每天使用的款式。
