Michael Zhan 在三月的薄霧清晨抵達柳州,循著一位漆器商人提供的線索,探尋隱藏在老街區的家庭式玻璃工坊。工坊主人魏師傅自十四歲便開始吹製玻璃,採用附近山區開採的礦物為熔融石英上色。他所達成的琥珀色調 — 溫暖、透明、帶有一絲鏽跡 — 讓 Michael 聯想起他在福建茶館見過的老藥瓶。啜飲著一杯杯 Tiě Guān Yīn,他們討論起使品茗杯出彩的比例:高度必須超過直徑以鎖住香氣,杯緣要薄而圓潤以便輕柔貼唇,底座則需穩固以保留餘溫。Michael 從魏師傅當早的批次中挑選了兩只高筒圓柱杯,每只 40毫升,非常適合與朋友分享一泡工夫茶。對杯的形式鼓勵並排比較香氣,這是他長期以來在烏龍茶會中所提倡的儀式。這些杯子現已打磨出細膩的杯緣,並留有吹管微弱的頂底痕跡 — 手工製作的身分標誌。
